Norman's character highlighted the prevalence of exasperated and stubborn personalities in older adults, which may be manifestations of their frustrations with age-related changes and other significant health issues. As a nurse, this insight motivates me to be more tolerant and compassionate when a patient is difficult and has frequent outbursts of anger. Furthermore, the film dispels specific myths about aging identified by Miller (2015), such as that “people consider themselves old on their 65th birthday” (p. 10), “adulthood is something to fear because it represents disability and death." (p. 10), “by age 70, an individual's psychosocial growth is complete” (p. 10), and “in today's society, families no longer care for the elderly” (p. 10 ). Ethel, who was in her 60s, still considered herself middle-aged and always seemed cheerful and hopeful about her future with her husband. Furthermore, even at 80 years old, Norman was still undergoing psychosocial development and growth as he bonded with Billy and reconnected with his daughter. Finally, the film depicted how an elderly couple, while functioning independently, supported each other with the help of other family members. Through this film, I recognized that different people adapt and age in different ways. Therefore, it is my responsibility as a nurse to understand and be sensitive to the older adult's feelings and perceptions
