This technique allows readers to also feel the same compassion and kindness portrayed by Dee to Leila and allows readers to feel as if they too are part of the occasion. Wyndham uses this technique to not only allow readers to empathize with the characters, but also to understand how kindness and compassion can positively influence an individual in navigating the journey they are on.
