Topic > The Role of Computers in Education - 634

From the past to the present, the advancement of technology has made possible the wide application of information and knowledge that allows people to communicate easily and quickly. It demonstrates that information technology is a tool that can benefit appropriate education, if known to bring benefits and cost-effective investments. And today it can be considered a high-tech device that has played a profound role - the "computer", widely used in all industries. In particular, computers in education, including uses of computers for educational administration, computers for teaching and learning, and computers for educational services. Computer roles are required for use in education. The use of computers for educational administration and administrative instruction is a critical factor in determining the direction of policy that leads to the practical guidance of education. At both local and national levels, important for administration to be effective is the availability of information to managers for decision making and political education. The computer will play even more of a role in managing education. This allows the operational database to have clearly correct and optimal performance (Dr. Chaiyos Ruangsuwan, 2008). In Thailand, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has promoted schools to use “ICT (information and communication technology)” in development administration education, personal development and policy making for achieve the goal (Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies, 2002). It therefore shows that the computer or information technology used to operate it helps reduce errors. Furthermore, people use computers for teaching and learning, this role can be considered very important in today's education. Because the school has too many students, so in every course there is computer-assisted instruction in teaching and learning. Computer-assisted instruction is the application of the computer used as an instructional medium in writing or established lesson objectives. This program is similar to lessons that students can learn at their own pace. The lesson written by a computer program is called “Computer-Assisted Instruction: CAI” (Chakkapong Jerjang, 1997). The advantages of using computer-assisted instruction are that they can be learned for an unlimited time, motivate students to learn even more through the use of presentations of lights, colors and sound effects, lesson plans can be organized for meet teachers' goals even further and individual needs can be met. There is also a system that promotes teaching and learning via computers, called "E-learning".".
