Topic > BULLY and bullying: what a student thinks about bullying

Bullying is becoming an increasingly common problem for our young society in the United States. Many kids have been bullied by their peers. Many children react in different ways and the film BULLY documents bullied children and their reactions to bullying. Document how their families are affected and the effects of bullying on children. Bullying should never be allowed. In the movie BULLY, five children are victims of bullying. Two of these children commit suicide, one takes a gun on the bus to threaten the people who bully her, one runs away and the other suffers constant abuse from bullies. I just think one of these situations was handled correctly, and that was the Kelby situation. She tried to let people adjust to having her around, but when they continued to treat her badly, she and her family distanced themselves from the problem. Having to move away from where you live isn't ideal, but if the problem doesn't go away, sometimes it's best to walk away from the situation. The bullying situations in the film that I felt were not handled properly were the remaining four of the five children and situations documented. Ty killed himself when he was only eleven because he felt there was no way to fix the problem. Obviously that situation wouldn't have been handled well if Ty had ended up taking his own life. Tyler committed suicide when he was seventeen because he was being bullied. Again, obviously taking one's own life was not the right way to handle things. Ja'Meya took a gun on the bus to threaten the students who bullied her. Violence, especially violence that can end in casualties, is never the right answer. Alex was bullied on the bus and at school. He continually brought the bull back... middle of paper... help. You can remove yourself from the situation (if you are the victim) by changing bus lines, schools, classes, anything to get away from the bully. Bullying exists, but we must stop it. Bullying can and must be stopped. It happens more often than you think, because if it doesn't happen directly to you or in front of you, you won't know it's there. Bullies should not be allowed to torment people, and people who stand up to their bullies and report the bullying can avoid being bullied. Report bullying. Ask for help, run to an adult, report the problem, but don't let the bullying happen undisturbed. “End Bullying Before It Ends a Life” Works Cited “Justin Furuglyas at The BULLY Project.” 2013.
