Ambrogio Lorenzetti was an Italian painter who painted actively between 1317 and 1348.1 His artwork was strongly influenced by that of the Byzantine period who famously painted in the Gothic style. Lorenzetti is highly regarded for the fact that his works are very original, which was rare during his period of activity due to the influence that patrons had on art in that period.
