Islam has its origins since the 7th century. Today it is one of the most widespread religions and continues to gain followers in many parts of the world. As many Muslims argue, Islam contains the truth and is the religion that brings life. The most authoritative book of the Islamic faith is the Koran. It contains the words of Allah and His commandments that help guide people in their journey of faith. By reading the Quran, one would be able to understand more about Islam and its practices. The basis of Islam is belief in one God, Allah. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and humanity. He revealed his words through Prophet Muhammad which were recorded in the Quran. It is explicitly said in Quran 2:2 that "there is no doubt about this Book: it is the guidance for the God-fearing." Therefore, no one is allowed to question God's words in the Quran based on human standards. Instead, God will judge everyone based on His words. By reading the Quran one can find that a devout Muslim should obey Allah in everything and imply God's laws in his daily life. The Quran 5:1-9 contains typical Muslim laws regarding food, sexual integrity, prayer, and other behaviors. For example, Muslims are prohibited from eating any impure food, such as pork, dead animals, or food sacrificed to other gods (Qur'an 5:4). Things that do not belong to these categories can be eaten; however, Muslims must “mention the name of God” on food before eating it (Quran 5:6). However, obedience to God's commandments should not be considered a burden. Rather, they need to be observed with appreciation and gratitude because a person who faithfully practices the law will be purified by it (Qur...... middle of paper ......y the evil one. This story of creation is very similar to the story written in the book of Genesis with slight differences. However, in both stories, pride was the reason for his downfall.
