The question of morality is controversial and usually occurs when things take a turn for the worse. What do people consider morally right and what are morally wrong? Does the law require it or do we follow ethics? Where people believe there is no other solution than to commit an act that can ultimately lead to destruction, question of faith and sometimes death. Each person has their own opinion on what is considered moral and what is not. This essay will analyze two films, which are related to the question of morality, to research and discuss the question of what exactly morality is. The two films discussed in the paper will be An Indecent Proposal, filmed in 1993, and A Wonderful Life, filmed in 1946. Both films deal with the theme of morality, specifically the need for financial stability in our society and the implications of money on our morality. Both films examine the issue of money and people's moral compass when two people are involved. Both films deal with issues related to financial problems. In It's a Wonderful Life, George throughout his life has been a moral individual starting from his childhood when he saved his brother and became deaf in the process. He also goes on to save a child from being poisoned, but ultimately ends up being accused of attempting to poison the child. It can be assumed that George was always a morally upright individual. However, when financial problems occur and he loses another $8,000, he decides to end his life and go to the bridge to commit suicide. He perceives that life has no value because he has no money and that the best solution is to end his life and ask his family to receive his life insurance. For example, in movies, it would be considered unethical to have sex with someone other than your partner, even more unethical when the sex is obtained with money. Furthermore, committing suicide to get money when things get bad is also considered unethical. In conclusion, both films discussed the implications of money and the moral issues that could arise from the lack of it. He suggested that money is a great necessity in our society today and could lead people to do drastic things even after realizing the consequences that could arise. It is a push to discover our morality. Ultimately, though, decisions are made, consequences are faced, and humans learn by accepting that morality is subjective and that we are solely responsible for upholding it...
