Largely personal Born to a middle-class family, in a village located about two hundred miles from the capital and deep in the mountains, a family that would otherwise have been totally dependent on farming for survival, the dream of acquiring a good education was but a far-fetched dream, if not for the constant inspiration of a loving family, who not only instilled the importance of academics into my growing consciousness, but it also pushed me to aspire, to perform, and to persevere despite the difficult circumstances that constantly troubled my family. My late grandfather's experiences definitely played an important role in my decision to opt for medical training. I still remember the day in my childhood when they removed the bandages from my grandfather's cataract-affected eyes and he could see clearly again. His happiness knew no bounds and this was a profound experience, seemingly a miracle in the eyes of a child. Of course it was, years later, when I graduated from high school that the prospect of enrolling in medical school became possible for me, when I learned about the government medical school scholarship for deserving students. I took the exam and based on my scores, I was awarded a scholarship to study medicine at one of the most renowned medical institutes in the country. As the days passed in medical... middle of paper.... ..ty, we would have saved a young life. And, to my misfortune, I saw several patients like these in the following days who succumbed to their illnesses due to lack of resources. These things have always tormented me and my passion to work on site with all resources and subspecialties has increased. This brings me to my current endeavor. I believe that a residency program and further subspecialization in internal medicine in the United States is probably the best I could ask for. The medical practice is cutting-edge and evidence-based, the treatment modalities are the best in the world. I love spending time with my patients and I am a punctual and disciplined person. A specialization in Internal Medicine would help me achieve this goal, and given the opportunity, I will prove to be an invaluable asset to the institution I enroll in for my academic research.
