In many ways Venus is similar to Earth. However their similarities do not go beyond their physical properties, for example their atmospheres differ greatly from each other. Venus is said to have an atmospheric pressure of 92.1 barometers (Adams, D. Et al., 1994 p.126) which is evidently 92 times greater than that of Earth which is 1.01 barometers (Adams, D. Et al. , 1994 p.126) at sea level. Despite this comparison with Earth's atmospheric pressure, Venus has an unusual atmospheric composition. It was once believed that scientific investigations into the structure of Venus were hampered by the heavy clouds that form its atmosphere, so for many years scientists have studied its composition, thus revealing the clouds that hinder such analysis. Therefore, being familiar with the chemistry of this atmosphere would be crucial to understanding its composition. To achieve this latter claim, a Russian spacecraft – Venera – was sent to Venus to carry out investigations. The Venusian atmosphere was later discovered to have an unusual atmospheric structure of two distinct tropospheric areas carrying out distinct chemical reactions. This structure is as follows: the upper troposphere is exposed to the sun's rays, so it carries out the chemical reaction related to dissociation, while the lower troposphere is protected from sunlight, so it traps heat and carries out heat-related chemical reactions. In conclusion, such reactions that occur together with the abundant carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Venusian troposphere are vital for creating species such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and producing droplets of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) that make up the clouds that veil Venus.How said before, Venus shows...... half of the sheet......m. From this section, it was also informed that the surface temperature of Venus is tremendously high, which gives it its unique property of a flaky crust compared to the hard solid that its sister planet has. Once again, its temperature is so high that it absorbs all existing water and has no possibility of life on its planet. Interestingly enough, Venus has no mountains, but has more than 80% of its plain filled with volcanoes and lava. . The craters that identify its surface also tell the reader the age of Venus. Venus is about 500 million years old (NASA. 2007), scientists have learned this by studying the depth and consequences of debris impact on the surface of Venus. All the properties and similarities of Venus with the Earth help scientists to unravel the mysteries and fantastic properties of this planet and now we can delight in such knowledge.
