Society of the FutureNobody knows what the future will be like. The future is an unsolved mystery that can never be revealed. People will never be able to live in the future because the problem is that once people live in the future, the future becomes the present. Even though no one knows what the future will be like, people like to write about this unsolved mystery because there is no right or wrong answer to what the future will be like. Both the novel, The Wheel of Heaven, and the film, The Matrix, focus on the future. The writers and creators of these works not only suggest what life might be like in the future with similarities and differences, but also add what life is like today to make the stories more believable. There are different and similar aspects of future societies in the two works. In both jobs there are people who know the difference between real worlds and then everyone else who has absolutely no idea. Most people have absolutely no idea. People live their lives without knowing anything about what is happening. These people live their lives similar to the way people in today's society live. This is one of the reasons why people can identify with both stories. Furthermore, in both works there are characters who seek to improve all worlds in general. Dr. Haber in the novel tries to influence George to dream a certain way to improve the world. For example, try to make George dream of equality for all people. In the film Morphius frees Neo from the computer system because he believes he can change the world. Neo is trying to get stopped by Agent Smith because he represents computers... middle of paper... he believes the world will always be as it currently is. When people read the story, they tend to think about how realistic it would be for someone to be able to change the world while everyone else doesn't know the difference and wonder how they themselves would know the difference. This is similar to how The Matrix makes people question reality. These two works, The Lathe of Heaven and The Matrix, both suggest what life might be like in the future and at the same time relate the future to today's societies. A person has difficulty imagining the future because the future is not actually happening. This is why the authors of these two works include aspects that can be connected to today's world.
