As Abraham takes people from the past to the present, in the last part he begins to talk about the future. Today, millions of people recognize how great the Gettysburg Address was. Most American citizens today probably know more about two-minute speeches than they do about the Civil War. The point he was trying to make was that if it hadn't been for the northern people who sacrificed their lives at the Battle of Gettysburg. Abraham could never have given the speech. If the North had never fought that battle, America today probably would not exist as it does now. A famous saying followed by most people today is that action speaks louder than words. If all Abraham had done was try to persuade the southern states to abolish slavery. He would have been mocked and ridiculed. Abraham is a guy who takes action, no matter what it costs to get it. Most people are not like Abraham. They sat there to study or start working, but the reality of them actually doing so is zero.
