Topic > The Effects of Anabolic Steroids - 1478

Steroids (anabolic) are a drug discovered and produced by medical scientists in the late 1930s to help with medical problems. The drug was created to help with many medical problems such as testosterone, growth, sexual functioning and other medical problems such as helping people with HIV grow in music. It also helps with many other diseases. Like any other drug on the market, people learn that the drug can be used for many other ways. Steroids can improve the performance of athletes and bodybuilders and are used in almost all sports. Steroid use has become a widespread problem. The use of steroids has caused many problems to help with the misuse of the drug and has made the drug illegal for people to use it in any type of sport. Steroids are only prescribed to people who need them only for medical problems. How anabolic steroids work is to release hormones. They can change the sexual characteristics in their body. When these characteristics are changed the body can become confused and produce the opposite effect on the body. They accelerate the growth of muscles and bones in the body. Some ways steroids can be taken are injected into muscles or taken orally or even used as gels or creams for the skin. When using the injections they could spread some life-threatening diseases such as HIV and hepatitis B and C. People who abuse the drug use it 10 to 100 times more than they should if it had been prescribed by a doctor. They also abuse it with the term pyramid; with this they slowly use steroids more and more. (According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.) . They combine different types of steroids, which is called stacking. (Wesson, McGinnis, 2006) There are many ways you can use ster...... middle of paper .......
