The meaning of a metaphor in the eyes of one person may not have the same meaning for other people. The same goes for the city of Omelas and its people which side is best to choose. Lakoff and Johnson clearly stated “that metaphorical language is influenced by culture, through their examples of different cultures: one culture saw argument as war and the other saw argument as dance.” Lackoff and Johnson also stated that "although other cultures may see arguing as a dance, we probably wouldn't see them as arguing at all: they would simply be doing something different." Metaphor is said to be what creates a better basis for a person's actions and his reasoning about what he believes is right and right and what is wrong and unjust.
