In The Taming of the Shrew one of my favorite characters was Katharina, daughter of Baptista, a wealthy merchant. Personally I choose her as a special character because Katharina Minola is a fiery and lively woman, and as such the male-dominated world around her doesn't quite know how to deal with her. Katharina was the main protagonist of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. . As mentioned in the title, she was the shrew, which meant the woman whose violent personality would be controlled by her husband. For Katharina, the development of her personality was greatly influenced by the interaction with other characters, namely Petruchio her husband, Bianca her sister and Baptista her father and others. The purpose of this article is to explain the reasons for Katharina's behavior, her development during the play and her gradual falling in love with Petruchio. Her falling in love will be the result of the success of Petruchio's domestication strategies. From the beginning of the film, Katharina is a furious character who rebels against everything and everyone. There were various reasons for such behaviors. I can think that his anger was born out of unhappiness. She acted like a shrew because she was unhappy and desperate. Furthermore, he expressed jealousy over his father's treatment of his younger sister Bianca. But this jealousy is justified, because her father continually humiliated her in public. Many examples can be found in this film, for example: when Baptista offered Katharina to one of Bianca's suitors, he first wanted to get Katharina off his back. Kate tied her sister's hands to torment her, because throughout the film Bianca acted like the perfect woman. She was her father's favorite and……middle of paper……she realized that her life was better than when she was a shrew. The love between Katharina and Petruchio became sincere and deep. The Taming of the Shrew seemed to express the intelligent lesson that women like Katharina endured during this period of not obeying their husbands. Ultimately, Kate and Petruchio's marriage was based on love and mutual respect. In my opinion, although I admire Katharina's personality, I firmly believe that she went a little too far with her attitude. Despite her beauty, no man wanted her as a wife due to her arrogance and the negative energy that surrounded her. I would never behave like her because being the daughter of a very rich merchant means being an educated person. Getting married to Petruchio was one of the most beautiful things for her because in life it is usually good to taste your own medicine.
