Imagine finally graduating from college, happy, and ready to make a difference in the world. Only to find that before you even get started you're already swamped in debt. This is the problem hundreds of thousands of students face every year. Why am I in debt, you ask? They are in debt due to the rising price of college tuition and the student loans they took out to afford to attend. Rising tuition and student debt are gigantic problems and are ruining the American dream for millions of students around the world. Student loan debt is a huge problem in this country, and it's something that needs to be fixed. Nearly 40% of college graduates under the age of 25 have student debt. That number has increased 26% since 2004. The average student loan debt in the country is $26,600. This is a lot of money, which could be used in many better ways by the young minds of the United States. Not only that, but when you leave college it becomes increasingly difficult to find a job. Graduates under 25 have an unemployment rate of 9%. There are nearly 2 million college graduates who don't have jobs right now. So not only do they have huge amounts of debt, but they have no way of earning the money to pay it off. However, student debt wouldn't be such a big problem if it weren't for the skyrocketing cost of tuition. College tuition prices have become scandalous lately. Many students are reconsidering what they want to do for this reason. The average private college tuition is usually around $30,000. A public college will cost you around $13,000 on average, but this figure varies a lot. Community College is much lower because it charges per class. Right now tuition is going up...middle of the paper...tuition and student debt are just one of the many problems in this country that are destroying the American dream for many. Something needs to be done about it and something will be done. There are millions of bright young minds out there waiting to make a difference. We just need to find the right one and we can solve this problem as well as all the others this country has. Works cited "Edfinancial Services". Understanding your student loan bill -. Np, nd Web.
