If I felt like I was getting nowhere or that they were being dishonest and uncooperative, I would read them both their Miranda rights and ask them if they understood them and would still like to talk for me, I would do this because I was already suspicious enough at the scene to tell them I wanted to meet them at the station. However, I would like to remind them that they can stop the questions at any time and assert their rights again. I would also call someone qualified to talk to the younger sister in a room where she would feel more comfortable, such as a room that seems child-friendly with toys and something to write and draw with.
