Topic > Barthes' Death of the Author - 1731

In the following paragraphs I will discuss the impact of Barthes' "Death of the Author" and its interpretive impact on contemporary art; discussing why and how we establish meaning within contemporary art. Is it on our shoulders? Or through the eyes of the artist. Do we follow the artist's line of thought? Or do we create our own interpretation? allowing ourselves to subtract the artist as a significant figure in art. Allowing him to create countless voices within art; it is through the loss of the author, we see the work for itself. But also try to establish the importance of the author and provide examples to reinforce these ideas. The death of the author is a linguistic theory. It asks who the real author is, this can be a text or an image or in reality it is anything that can be read by another it has always seemed obvious that the author is responsible for a particular piece, a writer for example would state of having written the book if they announce that they are the author, a painter would declare that they are the artist while painting the canvas. This can be applied to music, film, TV, photography, etc., literally anything that comes from one conscious mind and can then and there be interpreted by another. Barthes is trying to develop theories that the notation of authorship needs to be reworked. Barthes attempts to characterize the idea that when a text is created, a variety of cultures intoxicates, languages, emotions into a manifestation of ideas. We understand that when a writer puts pen to paper, believing that the ideas are his or her own, once the book is finished he or she proclaims himself or herself the author, regardless of whether he or she has borrowed from existing texts. that...... middle of paper...... what they were like when they started have completely changed. The same thing is actually happening with the public; once you have indulged in the work you become someone else. I think the text places this idea everywhere; that the audience is in control once the work has been seen. I believe that bath theory has had a major impact on contemporary art in positive and negative ways. without his theory we would still be incapable of thinking that the author has placed an idea or a meaning before us. In fact, when one's ideas are not true and no idea is, then it is easier and has a greater impact to allow the public to create countless interpretations of art. That said, we are allowing the rotation of coherent ideas. Proving his theory that an idea is not owned or created by anyone, it has simply been interpreted and insignificant amount of times
