"While the rich kids are driving the Benz, I'm still trying to hold on to my surviving friends." In this quote Tupac asked his audience to take a second to imagine a rebellious kid driving in the hood with a Benz while a poor Amirian African kid was struggling to support his friends. Tupac uses his lyrics to help paint a picture through his lyrics of the life of a black person which brings us to the Picture. The use of imagery in this song is amazing. Without even watching the music video and simply listening to the song, I could easily imagine everything Tupac was trying to explain. This is what makes Tupac the best rapper even today! Another use of imagery is when he said "You die on the inside, but on the outside you seem fearless, as tears roll down your cheeks." With this quote we, as an audience, should realize that there is more to this song that Tupac is trying to explain. In this quote I feel like he was explaining that as African Americans, especially black women tend to always wear this smile on their face no matter the situation where we know something in us is dying or just isn't right. For some reason we black women have a habit of hiding our true feelings and situations. The last one was the use of symbols that connect to images. “They have money for wars, but they can't feed the poor.” What was Tupac really trying to say? This quote symbolizes so much about America as a whole and how as a nation we spend so much of our money on weapons for war, but there are little children who go days and weeks without food. Is this right? This quote symbolized the pain and loss of hope because they (the poor) will never see a happy day. As they say, we must have the poor to have the
