ABORTIONWhy do young adults have abortions? Are they aware that this action does not only affect themselves or the child being aborted, but affects numerous people who witness this devastation? Abortion is an important issue in today's society and will certainly be discussed and brought to a conclusion as to whether this action should be allowed in society as legal or immediately stopped through a law enforced by the courts. According to the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey, “Approximately 43% of American women will have one (or occasionally more) abortions during their lifetime. Approximately 1.5 million legal abortions are performed in the United States each year” (1). According to the Merriam Webster's School Dictionary, "Abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus from a woman's uterus before the full term of pregnancy is completed" (3). I chose this topic because I am a teenager surrounded by this problem. I have many family members and close friends who were once in a situation where they were too young, but so perplexed and confused that they didn't know what the best decision to make was; or they didn't know whether or not to keep the baby or have an abortion. Most of my family and friends are minors; they are children themselves. Most of them are still enrolled in school and are not financially secure; therefore, they are not prepared to take on the role of parent. Reducing abortion will benefit society once we gain complete knowledge of the laws behind abortion, examine the effects of abortion, understand the influences on abortion, and provide solutions to prevent it. In conclusion... in the middle of the paper... this: what if your mother had miscarried? What if the aborted child is destined to find the cure for cancer? What if I had an abortion? Ask yourself; would life be the same? Works Cited PageWebster's School Dictionary, Merriam. "Abortion." March 13, 2014.RK Jones. Abortions by selected characteristics. www.census.gov.
