This comparison certainly bears resemblance to the human exchange for America to prosper. During certain periods of history, people drank these six glasses; these drinks have become a trend. Standage also believes that each of these drinks has caused a major rise/fall in history. On the last page of the introduction Standage states that "The six drinks highlighted in this book demonstrate the complex interaction of different civilizations and the interconnectedness of the world's cultures." (6) I think A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage is a great book, it is very creative but I feel there are also other important elements that made a great contribution to the development of a story. Standage was very rational when he decided to write this book because it gives people a broader perspective on other historical issues like these six
