Ethics plays a very important role in a social system and basically on how people will do their actions or decide on a particular thing whether it is right or wrong. Ethical consideration is very important. It helps a person or group of people understand whether actions are right or wrong. Ethics is a very critical factor especially when considering where ethical standards should be applied. Apart from that, evaluating the results of actions or decisions is also another big concern because a person has to critically analyze which part needs to be satisfied. There are cases where moral obligations are also taken into account, where morality is defined as a universally accepted personal human behavior that allows a person to decide whether an action or decision is good or bad. In Joelle's case, this study will significantly identify moral obligations. different ethical principles applicable to the case. Besides that, the study will also come up with an ethical theory that Joelle can be applied in her situation so that she can actually determine what she will do and whether her decision and action can be considered ethical or right. UTILITARIANISM Utilitarianism is an ethical theory in which determining the rightness or wrongness of an action or decision is based on determining whether the greatest benefit or happiness will be provided to the greatest number of the population. This simply means that the action or decision must be based on the largest amount or number of beneficiaries (Martineau, 2006). However, this ethical theory has two main types. The first is “act utilitarianism” and the second is “rule utilitarianism”. Acting on utilitarianism specifically adh...... middle of paper...... pollution, it can be concluded that the total external population has the largest number of population that will benefit from the decision. Overall, the position Joelle needs to take is to mention her company's modus operandi of illegal dumping. Works CitedDooley, D. (1996).
