INTRODUCTION The Aztec ball game was actually a reinvention of an ancient Mesoamerican game played by many people, including the Mayans. It may have been invented by the ancient Olmec civilization. It was a very important part of the Aztec lifestyle, not only because it was fun, but also for political and religious reasons. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WHEN YOU SET IN A NEW HOME? I would most likely check out the place, check out the place nearby or even take a walk. The two main things the Aztecs would do when they settled in a place. First they would build a sanctuary for the god Huitzilopotchli. Second, they would build a courthouse next door. In Tenochtitlan the court was surrounded by the palace and the temple. The Aztec ball game was known as ullamaliztli, it was very important. The Aztec ball court Ullamaliztli had a very special court name, tlachtli or tlachco. The playing field was shaped like and later some changes were made. There was a slope around the court. The slope was surrounded by walls approximately 8-11 feet high. The court was mostly 100 to 200 feet long. There was a center line and six markers along the slopes. In the center of the courtyard against the walls were two carved stone rings. They were mostly about 35 inches in diameter. They were often specially carved in the shape of animals. Around the court there were seats for observers, nobles and judges. You would often see skull racks on the walls called tzompantli. They had skulls of scarified people. Sometimes on the walls there were photos of people who felt relieved when they were scarified. Equipment The ball was made of hard rubber and weighed... half the weight of paper... the world would be if we didn't have football in the world. So you have to admit that the brains of the Aztecs were the best. Yes, what if I don't want to play that game? In life you always have to go in the majority even when I want to play football and there are always many chances that your friends love football and I think you would also like to play a game that your friends play. So what do you think now? All information came from: Aztec Ball Game. (n.d.). Aztec ball game.
