People should use the current resources preserved by our ancestors to promote sustainable development. Unlike in the past, unsustainable activities are currently taking place. The environment is degrading as people build modern homes and encroach on watersheds. Globalization, improved technology, and other modern activities have caused harm to the environment. Pollution is currently the main problem causing environmental degradation. History informs us that in the past, pollution was absent as the environment was kept natural, unlike today where environmental pollution is a global concern. From the same historical course it is observed that the environment is the most crucial element that makes the survival of man and other organisms possible. This article describes the relationship between history and environment and current activities that lead to unsustainable development. Environmental protection is both an individual and governmental concern. Environmental pollution is mostly found in countries where businesses are advanced. This is true from the course of history as in the past companies were environmentally friendly. Modern technology contributes to environmental pollution (Roach, 2003). Therefore, it is essential to maintain a safe environment to support the growth of plants and other living organisms that live in the soil. Through conservation of the environment some of the problems related to the whole environment will be solved, for example, soil pollution will be minimized, since there will be this in advance it will help to maintain a desirable environment.
