Can be seen in many different forms and styles. For example, whites may discriminate against blacks; blacks can discriminate against whites. Discrimination and prejudice are linked to each other. In most cases, one will lead to the other. Discrimination is the unfair treatment of a particular group. It can be based on many characteristics: age, gender, skin color, income, education, sexual orientation and religion. Discrimination is usually the result of a negative attitude towards a certain group, called prejudice. While not all biases are negative, negative biases are more often in the spotlight than positive ones. Many people are not born with prejudices. In most cases they are taught or learn to have prejudices against a certain group. Elliot proved this theory in his experiment with children. Discrimination and prejudice play an important role in one's society; therefore, many should be aware of the consequences of discrimination and prejudice and do their best not to do so
