There were many, many illegal things that happened during Jesus' trial. Their goal was to get him convicted, not to truly and legitimately find out if he was guilty. They had been trying for a long time to find a way to put him to death. Now they had it in their hands and were doing their best to get rid of it. “If these men had intended to conduct a legal trial, a specific charge would have been brought against Christ and an arrest warrant would have been issued.”1 Since that was not what they wanted, they simply twisted things to help them succeed in their program. It seems like people in our government now days. So, what were some of the things the Jewish leaders did? First, the law said it was illegal to conduct any legal process for a capital crime at night. We immediately see that Jesus rested at night in the Garden. We can find this in the Bible where it talks about the crowd that had lanterns when they came to take Jesus. We read in the Bible how they were afraid of catching Jesus in the temple, because of the people. By making this night capture they managed to have a more secret arrest. Then these Jews went even further and had their trial at night. There was also the law that said trials had to take place after the morning sacrifices. Once again we see that this law has also been broken. Now let's look at Judas to see if what he did was legal as far as the law is concerned. Judas was what would be called an accomplice of Jesus because he was with Him. The law said that the testimonies of accomplices were not permitted, but it allowed them to use Judas as a means to arrest Jesus. Earl L. Wingo says, "They had no warrant, nor any arresting authority whatsoever." within two or... half of the paper... he wants to do it for us. He did this so that we could go to heaven. Let's not forget to thank him and return our service to him. Works Cited Lischak, Gabriel N. "12 Reasons Why Jesus' Trial Was Illegal, Part 1." The Church of God restored.
