Chapter 36 Victim Services Response Document As I read the article about the Victim Services Social Worker, I thought about how amazing an individual you would have to be to do this type of work. To work with victims of crime, whether it's domestic violence, rape or murder, these people depend on you. This career seemed to me to go in two different directions. Going down the criminal system route, helping victims in court, or going more down the victim services route, helping the victim through the hospital visit and decision making at that time. With the ability to intern while still working on your degree, this gives you the opportunity to intern in both fields and see which one suits your specific interests. At a local level you first deal with the victims themselves, helping them through the process of visiting the hospital and then the decision whether to file a complaint.
