So, when a father is not present, who does the boy turn to for guidance? A mother can only understand what her child is going through to a certain extent. When a boy loses his father at an early age he has no chance of knowing who his father is, so he starts searching for his father's identity. A boy or a man looking for a father is looking for himself in the father, because the father was not able to be part of the son's life, the son thus finds his own identity when he himself takes on the role of father. A boy learns from his father how and what it means to be a man.
