It is the outer layer that contains the attitude and ideologue, values, laws and customs of a particular culture and subculture. The macrosystem is influenced by the culture and society in which a person lives. The belief system and ideology of an individual's culture directly influence the person; however, the individual does not necessarily have the same freedom in determining the surrounding environment. For example, the influence might include political or religious cultural norms. In my Asian family culture, we always respect elders. Children are expected to be family oriented and are encouraged to work hard for the family. In my family style of raising a child, parents will support and give what the child needs throughout school age or until he or she graduates from high school and gets a job. In our culture, we still live with our parents even if we are over 18 or sometimes even if the person gets married. An example of this is my life, I am 25 years old and I still live with my mother. It's not because I don't work or have money to live on my own, but it's part of our culture. When our parents grow old, it is the time when we can pay them back and take care of them. When my mother gets old and can no longer work, I will take care of her the same way she takes care of me. In our country, youth and children are expected to listen to and obey their parents. Freedom of expression is not widely practiced
