Kevin Ho (C02335428)Professor Corine SutherlandPHIL 115 – Logic and Critical ThinkingMay 17, 2014Argument Paper: Homosexuality is NaturalOver the past 50 years, gay marriage and, more specifically, homosexuality, he made great strides in social reform. For example, as of May 2014, 18 US states have legalized same-sex marriage, while some other states allow same-sex unions. The main issue in these last 50 years is the debate between fundamentalists and scientists who support the controversial debate between nature and nurture. Some fundamentalists argue that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice. In contrast, some scientists argue that homosexuality is biologically determined in the womb due to genes or hormones. Furthermore, within this article we will examine research conducted by the journal Science and other sources that denote that homosexuality is biologically determined. This article will argue that homosexuality is natural. The fact of the matter is that homosexuality is natural due to its biological roots and ancestry in humans and animals. Humans are essentially complex animals, and animals form the backbone of what humans evolved from. Researchers at the University of Oslo have found that homosexuality is prevalent in the animal kingdom with a recorded number of over 1500 animals engaging in homosexual activities (M. News, 2006). Animals exhibit the purest form of natural instincts. Stigma is a major concern in human life as humans collectively decide what acts are deemed in tune with society. Homosexuality is evident and is essential in the life of some animal species, therefore homosexuality has origins from the animal kingdom and therefore is natural. Homosexuality would be unnatural if... in the center of the paper... we were talking about reproaches that demonstrate that homosexuality is a biologically determined factor. Thinking critically about the supposed issue of homosexuality, in the end, homosexuals and heterosexuals are all people. People who have the same thought processes, will to live and people who need to eat, breathe and sleep. Since homosexuals have not been given the opportunity to choose their social role in society (which is at the extreme end of the scale), homosexuals should not be defined by their social upbringing or their environment – an environment that rejects them. By having the mentality that homosexuality is based on biological determination, society will be able to exclusively promote the growth of humanity. Homosexuality is natural because of this biological determinism and the fact that it is rooted in our history, in our genes and is evident in the animal society around us..
