Investigate some of the reasons why people start smoking and why people might continue smoking?1. Did you know that 1 in 10 adult smokers die from tobacco-related diseases? But people continue to smoke. Why should they continue to smoke even if they know the effects? Actually why do they start? One reason is the "cool" look you get from smoking. We have movies to blame for this, but that doesn't mean it should be done. Peer pressure plays an important role in the lives of teenagers, and most children are highly susceptible to it. These are just a few of the many reasons why people start smoking. There is also the feeling of rebellion that leads teenagers to smoke to show that they don't care about rules or laws. There is also mental addiction (desire for "after meals" for example after lunch or during work, basically where and when you smoked), physical addiction (the addictive substance, nicotine, which is harmless in itself but which makes you want to of a cigarette as a whole) and stress. Stress is the most important factor because smoking a cigarette relaxes many people and calms their desire to smoke one. There is also the most important factor, nicotine, which is the addictive substance in a cigarette. This is one of the main reasons why people continue to smoke because it is very difficult to stop an addiction.2. Investigate the short- and long-term health effects of smoking.
