Mustafa Furkan KaptanStatement of PurposeTechnical University of MunichDepartment of Computer ScienceI am a senior Bachelor's degree student at the Department of Computer Engineering at Galatasaray University and am writing this statement of purpose for my application to the University Munich Technique of Computational Sciences and Master's Program in Engineering. In this essay I will briefly explain my background, my interests and why I am a sufficient candidate for the TUM CSE master program. My enjoyable interaction with computers dates back ten years, to the first time I learned to program. In high school, every summer I interned in the computer science department where my father works. Since then people around know me as the tech guy. Having said that, I can say that I knew I would study computer engineering after high school. Being ranked in the top 1% among millions of students wanting to enroll in university, I chose to study at Galatasaray University. Throughout my bachelor years up until now, I have always strived for more. I improved my programming skills by taking elective courses, competing in different competitions, and contributing to open source projects. Among the courses I followed, the most interesting were Artificial Intelligence, Numerical Analysis, Parallel Programming, Computer Architecture and Networks. I also took online courses on various websites and attended numerous seminars to hone my skills. Since Galatasaray University places as much importance on mathematics courses as on programming courses, I have acquired a solid background in advanced mathematics. In the 4th semester of my studies, my team and I received the special jury prize at the IBM Software Academy (2012). Our project was to create a system that could... By the middle of the paper ......that we built, I had learned fascinating things in topics like weather forecasting. My curiosity pushed me to do a lot of research, read a lot of articles on computational science. I finally realized that, with my education, my mathematical background, and my programming skills, I can and should tackle large-scale problems. That's why I decided to pursue a master's degree in computational science and engineering. Thanks to the mathematical background and programming skills that I have combined with the gained engineering approach, I firmly believe that I am sufficient to be a good candidate for TUM CSE. I have no doubt that TUM CSE will take me internationally with its education system and strong relationships with multinational companies. Therefore, it would be a privilege to be able to get admission to pursue graduate studies at TUM CSE.
