Art and design are important aspects of life today and influence everyone. Whether we realize it or not, there are signs of skilled professionals from art-related fields all around us (Hennessey). Careers in art and design can take forms that many people may not have thought about: People with an art and design degree find work in almost every industry imaginable, in roles that didn't even exist ten or fifteen years ago ago ("Careers in art and design"). Related industries and careers are continually expanding, offering art and design students new opportunities. The career possibilities in art and design are almost endless and continually growing. To explore careers in art and design, a student must be prepared to major in art and/or design. First of all, the student should focus on their specific talents and goals in their work and be responsible for their own development. They should also always continue to draw to train the eye. Art students are always learning how to do it well and getting a head start will be beneficial to the students. Beyond that, they should always practice, not only in their areas of study, but also by observing someone else currently in their desired career. No level of knowledge or skill they can achieve will be too high. Students, remember to see as much art and design as possible. See all historical periods and view original works. Having seen these will help students with their knowledge of works and other artists/designers. Any art or design student should observe the world of visual design around them. Finally, students must learn the basics of art and design history and obtain a well-rounded high school education.
