Topic > Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: Case Study - 1508

Abraham Maslow, a researcher in psychology, contributed to the field of science by analyzing how motivations are organized into a hierarchy and describes the formula for a healthy personality. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a systematic arrangement of needs, according to priority, in which basic needs must be satisfied before less basic needs are elicited. Many stages are organized in hierarchy; from progressively less basic needs at the top of the pyramid, towards the regression of lower needs that are not satisfied at the bottom. The lowest stage of the pyramid, physiological needs, is defined as the most basic needs to address the maintenance of the body, such as hunger, thirst, and so on (Weiten, 2013). One of the people who realized the need was Joe. He was taken to hospital for an immediate blood transfusion because his white blood cell count was significantly decreased, which could lead to an infection. This is an example of physiological needs because going to hospital means maintaining the human body, which is extremely necessary for survival (Walker & George,
