Communism is a system of government, a political ideology that rejects private property and promotes a classless, stateless society, based on common ownership of all property and means of production , where all work is shared and all proceeds are jointly owned. Communism is practiced in China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba. However, most of the world's communist governments have been dissolved since the end of World War II. Soon after the surrender of the Japanese at the end of World War II, Communist forces began a war against the Kuomintang in China. The Communists gradually took control of the country, and on October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong announced the victory of the Communist Party and the founding of the People's Republic of China. China has been ruled by the Communist Party ever since. It was the events between 1946 and 1964 that strengthened communism in China. At the end of World War II, the Nationalist Party (GMD) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) competed for power in China. The chairman of the Communist Party was Mao Zedong and their army was known as the People's Liberation Army (PLA). The Nationalists were led by Chiang Kai-shek and their army was the Kuomintang. The spread of communism and its ideals increased significantly during the final stages of the Chinese Civil War, which intensified after World War II and led to the victory of the communists in China. October 1949. At that time, most Chinese provinces were led by the GMD or the CCP. However, civilians in cities ruled by the GMD were suffering rapid inflation, strikes, violence and riots which led to the collapse of public order. In addition to this instability, corruption was widespread within the Nationalist Party... in the middle of paper... in the production and export of goods to the rest of the world. This essay critically analyzed and examined the effects of Communism in Chinese society during the period 1946-1964. The general conclusion that can be drawn is that the Chinese Communist Party managed to defeat the Kuomintang (nationalist) Party and achieve victory in the Civil War, despite the alienation of the Soviet Union and opposition from the United States. This is mainly due to the superiority of the Chinese Communist Party. military strategy employed by the communists and the economic and political reforms introduced by this party which brought more equality to the peasants in the form of land ownership and better public services. This increased China's production and manufacturing, which not only boosted the country's economy but also provided a more sustainable supply of food, goods and services for the Chinese people.
