IntroductionNursing is one of the most popular jobs in the world. Nursing aims to provide optimal care to its patients. As technology has changed over the years, the job spectrum of nurses has also changed. Nurses may now be required to use technology when implementing care such as the use of electronic health records and telemedicine. Nursing informatics in Trinidad and Tobago is relatively new and the exact definition of the job may differ depending on the healthcare system. The American Nurses Association defines the position as overseeing the integration of data, information and knowledge to support decision-making by patients and their healthcare providers. Despite being relatively new, the Ministry of Health has visions and in some cases it has been to convert patients' medical records into electronic format, electronic prescription and telemedicine. This report will focus on the future of nursing informatics in Trinidad and Tobago as it relates to telemedicine. Telemedicine is the use of digital technologies to provide medical care, health education, and public health services by connecting multiple users in separate locations. At the end of this report, readers will be informed about the various telecommunication technologies used in telemedicine, the benefits of telemedicine, and the telemedicine service offered in Trinidad and Tobago. Future recommendations for telemedicine in Trinidad and Tobago will also be mentioned. Telemedicine encompasses a broad definition of technology-based healthcare services. This definition includes telemedicine, which is the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses or injuries. Telemedicine services consist of diagnosis, treatment, evaluation, monitoring, communications and education.
