An educator must have the ability to see the value of extending planning and topics. Additionally, educators must be flexible enough to modify the curriculum based on state standards and the student's ability to absorb the information. In my Field Experience Teaching Professions course, we had to create two lesson plans during the semester; one that involved the use of technology and the other without. The rules that accompanied the lesson plans were as follows: the speaker had to recite the lesson he had prepared and his classmates had to act accordingly at what grade level the lesson belonged to. Finally, during presentations, students had to write down three good qualities that the speaker or presentation possessed. Additionally, they had to write a wish that the student thought would make the lesson better. For the first project lesson I built, I incorporated the use of technology to discuss identifying and using monochromatic colors for the sixth grade level. Before starting class, I made sure all of my materials were placed where I needed them; at the reception. The materials I brought were a PowerPoint presentation, some color swatches, project paper, pencils, and crayons. When I started, I greeted everyone and gave them an idea of what was being taught that day. To start, I showed a PowerPoint presentation that discussed the terms Monochromatic Colors and Value. The PowerPoint wasn't very long; however, as an example, I showed the class various color samples that I received from Lowes. The color swatches were the perfect example to show because they show different values of a particular color; blue, yellow, pink and so on. The beautiful pa...... middle of paper ...... to prepare my instructions and take more time to explain my instructions to the class. This way I can clearly communicate my lesson in more depth to the intended class. After that, the media I chose were not very effective. Due to time and place, I may choose to use colored pencils or markers instead. This will allow students to create cleaner, more vibrantly colored lines. For this lesson I still have to learn how to analyze teaching objectives and differentiated teaching strategies. When I transfer to a university to continue my studies; in my educational lessons I will learn this. In addition to teaching students, I will learn how to handle future situations with the appropriate grade level. Finally, I will ask art teachers and teachers in general for advice on differentiated teaching strategies.
