Marijuana: good or bad? Currently in the United States, one of the major concerns in the medical field is whether or not to use marijuana as a legitimate medicine. It is already legal in states like California, while other states like Maryland and New Mexico are pushing for it to be used for patients with terminal illnesses. If it were to be used as a legitimate medicine with good results in states like California and Arizona, then other states should follow suit, because it would help those in their state suffering from terminal illnesses. While this is an issue that states should address, it should remain as it is, more of a states right and not a federal issue because people will continue to vote for it, obviously. The federal government had already passed a law banning illegal drugs like marijuana, but it sparked major conflict over the medicinal uses it could provide to patients suffering from life-threatening diseases. This drug is being used illegally across the country as a way to get that rush or "high," but patients in critically ill hospitals can use marijuana to relieve some of that pain and make them a little more easy to live with the disease. . Although many are pushing for it to be legalized, it is only because those who use it illegally want to do so without getting into trouble. If it were to be legalized, it would not only make it an industry like what happened with tobacco, but it would also make it difficult for some who actually need it to use it for medicinal purposes. However, without any intrusion from the federal government, as this affects individuals in their respective state, it should be legalized for those suffering from terminal illnesses in all consenting states because it would alleviate the s...... middle of paper. .... alleviates part or almost all of the pain of potentially lethal diseases, allows people with terminal illnesses to enjoy the time they have left and to help in the name of research because a new medicine can be developed starting from the world marijuana medicine.
