The lesson of teaching them to be disciplined and frugal is one of the instructions I plan to implement with my children. My family instilled this concept in my early years in Anchorage, Alaska working at a fishing site catching fish. The work was hard and exhausting because we had to remove the fish from the net and load it onto the truck. We would then transport the fish to a cannery where the fish would be distributed. The lessons my mother instilled in me at that fishing site are discipline and hard work. Earning an allowance will not be hard work, and once earned, consider the reluctant tasks to receive it. After working and receiving a small check they always convinced me to save, and to this day it has helped me a lot. During the summers I saved the funds to do this job and various other jobs, and I had the goal of a truck. The discipline I learned on the set netting site allowed me to reach my goal of purchasing a ten thousand dollar truck. The process wasn't easy, but after purchasing the truck with my savings I'm grateful for these lessons because I don't have any debt.
