Today the most controversial issue concerns forests. Forests provide many useful benefits to humans, for example trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen for people to breathe. Forests cover 31% of our planet's land surface (WWF, n.d.). No one can deny the many benefits that come from forests. There are also those who say that forests are a "green lung" for our planet. According to the FAO, approximately half of the world's tropical forests have been destroyed (Szalay, 2013). Forests are lost every year. However, some people rely on several advantages of the forests to be mercenaries. They cut down trees and destroy millions of surfaces to build houses, industrial areas or to serve human life. That is why forest areas across the Earth are decreasing dramatically. People do not know that their lives are threatened by the destruction of forests. As a result, governments of countries around the world should enact deforestation law to protect the world's forests. First of all, deforestation is a big problem all over the world. People cut down forests for many reasons. According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the direct cause of the removal of all trees from a large area is agriculture (Damino, 2012). In the past, our ancestors burned the forests they found around their habitat, began growing crops, such as rice and corn, and also built farms that require many areas to build. They also cut trees for wood to heat the family in winters, they also made furniture, for example, beds, wardrobes, etc. Furthermore, one of the reasons is that deforestation belongs to the coz...... middle of paper ......-convention-on-climate-change-source-causes-of-planetary-deforestation/ Mongabay.
