Taking away guns will not stop crime because the people who use them for bad reasons are responsible. We must come to the understanding that there are just some bad people out there and they will commit criminal acts regardless of the laws put in place. All of the gun crimes sparking the debate for stricter gun laws are all illegal and haven't stopped criminals from committing them, so not even new gun control laws would stop them. “How many school or mall shootings will it take before we realize that people who intend to kill are not deterred by gun laws? Last time I checked, murder is against the law everywhere. No one who intends to commit murder will be stopped by the prospect of committing a crime as minor as the illegal possession of a firearm." (Stossel) Gun control laws will have no effect on criminals who intend to commit these acts, and they will harm normal citizens who will not be able to protect themselves and make the work of criminals easier. If the government tried to ban guns and implement strict gun laws, it would take a long time to have any effect because they are still there like that. many firearms owned in United States and criminals can easily get their hands on them. "There are nearly 300 million privately owned firearms in the United States. Even if Congress passed a law banning the sale of firearms tomorrow, it would be decades before the supply of firearms declined significantly, especially considering that many guns are operational 100 years or more after they are manufactured.” (Tucci) Criminals will still be able to get guns if they need them and some will even prosper by selling more guns to other criminals who need them. Banning firearms will not prevent gun crimes, it would cause more crimes with the...... middle of paper ......k to the individual and their relatives to make sure the gun is not in a possession of the criminal. Also check on people who may not be mentally capable of carrying guns, if people have had psychiatric treatment they should be examined first by a professional before a gun purchase can be made. Guns are not to blame and the debate over gun control laws are pointless. There will always be evil people who want to harm people with the weapons available to do so and nothing will change that. Instead of trying so hard to put gun laws in place to try to stop criminals from committing crimes, we should allow people in all parts of the country to be armed so that they can defend themselves and criminals might think twice before attempting a crime. The right to bear arms has been a privilege of this country since its birth and should not be changed.
