Many young people aged sixteen to eighteen are bold, they mostly want freedom, but with freedom comes responsibility and most young adults lack this. They want to have fun before they become adults. There are too many problems with minors when it comes to driving. Can we put the safety of Canadians at risk for young adolescents? Can we let them run wild on our streets for entertainment? Young people are known for partying, sneaking out, drinking; when it's illegal and we can't have people like these causing chaos on our streets. Even minors are too easily distracted by the latest technology, friends and other passengers. Teens also like to eat, talk, and groom themselves, which is a distraction. A distraction is anything that could take a person's attention away from their primary task of driving. Studies have shown that 16-year-olds are immature and their minds are not fully developed and therefore they should not be able to drive. They also don't have enough experience as most young people get their driving license at the age of sixteen and almost never practice road safety before that. Teenagers are constantly causing problems, they should not be allowed to drive until they are eighteen. Sixteen year olds just want freedom. In today's generation, technology is easily accessible and this could distract teenagers. Technology is a leading cause of teen crashes every year: “Among drivers ages fifteen to nineteen involved in fatal crashes, 21 percent of distracted drivers were distracted by cell phone use.” Teens use cell phones too much. This shows that many teenagers are distracted by technology which leads to accidents, deaths and injuries. Many kids are invaded by electronics and machinery that today......middle of paper......wouldn't worry about their child's absence from home. A huge number of accident rates would be reduced. Bluetooth should be introduced for teenagers and adults, to prevent them from using the phone. Teens are still reckless and we don't want them to continue to increase the accident rate in Canada with the increase in technology and available distractions. Teenagers are too immature and do not have the brain capacity to drive and do not have the necessary experience. Many things could be done to enable young people to drive, but the best solution would be to raise the driving age limit to eighteen and over. The Canadian government should change the laws immediately!
