Running a company can be a daunting task. It involves many different levels and many different people all striving to maintain the organization. This is an important task even for smaller companies. Most family businesses can achieve this with just two or three people. How can someone running a larger global organization accomplish this task? Regardless of the size of the organization, this can overwhelm even the most experienced leaders. Ford Motor Company is committed to excellence throughout the organization. With many leaders in different countries and at different levels, they manage to achieve this. Even though Ford Motor Company is a global company, their leadership is very traditional. Ford has many leaders, from CEO Allan Mulally, all the way down to the supervisor on the assembly line at one of its many plants located around the world. How can Ford ensure that all leaders, from the corporate suit to the greasy boss, are effective leaders and communicators? Ford has a real agenda that he submits to his leaders. It's basically a leadership college run by Ford. What can leaders learn from this leadership college at Ford? According to Tom Grant, head of executive programs and the Center for Leadership Development at Ford, "Accelerating the growth of future leaders is the focus of Ford Motor Company's New Business Leader (NBL) program, which reaches approximately 2,000 managers in the whole world." This program is designed to drive change at Ford Motor Company.
