Brief HistoryIn 1997, Critical Chain Project Management was developed by Dr. Eli Goldratt from his book on the Theory of Constraints “Critical Chain”. This method was designed specifically for the project environment. CCPM is presented as an alternative to older project planning and control methods, such as those contained within management standards such as the PMI Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Therefore, Critical Chain Project Management has claims from both a theoretical and practical point of view in light of these new orientations.
