In his work “A Critique of the Argument from Design” Hume asks himself and his main characters whether we can logically discover the nature of God. The three main characters: Demea, Philo and Cleanthes represent different sides of the issue. Demea believes that we cannot understand the nature of God, because it is naturally beyond people's perception. Philo considers the nature of God from a philosophically skeptical point of view. Cleanthes disagrees with two opponents and believes that the nature of God is possible to understand with the help of reasoning.
