In the United States, only fifteen percent of the population regularly weight trains. This percentage shows how few of us actually take part in weightlifting. Lack of participation can be a major contributor to many of this country's health problems because it acts as a fantastic "prevention system." Some of the health problems it hinders include osteoporosis, diabetes, colon cancer, heart attacks, and physical injuries. It is a very beneficial training course in which all those who are able should actively participate. An increase in muscular endurance, prevention of many health problems, and reversal of the body's natural metabolic decline are all great reasons why people start doing this exercise ("Few Americans"). This training will help in people's daily lives by improving muscle endurance. High muscular endurance will be less prone to muscle strains and tears due to the endurance they have developed, extended training times, and better endurance from weight lifting repetitions (“Muscular Endurance Benefits”). Everyday life will be easier as it will be easier to lift heavy objects; exercise overloads the muscles, testing them, forcing them to adapt and therefore become stronger to meet the challenge of lifting heavier objects. “To make a muscle grow, you have to force it to go beyond its capacity. The most effective way to apply that force is to train to failure.
