Without globalization, as discussed in class, many of the supplies and luxuries we have today would not be available, or would have an astronomically high value. Everyday products such as clothing, which are made and developed in multiple nations, are priced significantly lower than they would be if made in the United States due to lower labor costs. Labor-rich nations need globalization to provide jobs for their citizens, and if it weren't for foreign labor, everyday products would fetch prices that the average consumer couldn't afford. This workforce also allows foreign regions to develop higher standards of living and provide products to the rest of the world at affordable prices. Globalization allows specialization between countries and is capable of improving the economic, cultural status and standard of living of interacting societies. As discussed in our class discussion, globalization has promoted non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to respond to people in need of help and even to dissolve violent conflicts, thereby saving lives and promoting a new level of global peace.
