Topic > Used to live here once compared to a father's story

My final comparisonMany different literary works seem to be evaluated and examined in a large number of different ways. Some of these ways include plot, theme, point of view, symbolism, and numerous others. The ways in which we evaluate and examine different works of literature can dramatically influence how a story or poem affects or even affects the reader. While a range of authors include their own individual approach to writing, it can be considered universal for authors to have themes, points of view, plot and even symbolism in their writing which can often allow an author's writing to relate and engage with a 'another work. My essay will talk about the similarities and differences between two meticulous literary pieces which are, the first, the short story written by Jean Rhys entitled Used to Live Here Once, written in 1976. The second short story I used for my essay was written by Andre Dubus and is titled A Fathers Story, this story was written in 1983. My essay will examine these literary works to establish and parallel the common theme, point of view, plot and even the appearance of symbolism inside. the narratives. In my essay I will also address any discrepancies I found during my reading. “Each story narrows down a broad fundamental idea and then shapes it in its own special way, making the fundamental idea solid and thus the theme is formed. The theme is an illustration of the thinking behind the story.” (Clugston, 2010) The stories Used to Live Here Once and A Father's Story both have the same theme, which is death. In the story Used to Living Here once the person reading does not even discover that the character of the narrative is ...... in the middle of the sheet ......w while the story A Father's Story was written in the first point of the person's view. Ultimately, having the ability to recognize and evaluate the factors of change that facilitate the development of a theme in a story or novel is the key to being able to be grateful for a story or a piece of literature.
