Google's main competitors are Yahoo! Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Apple. Google's competitive environment is extremely complicated and involves multiple industries and markets, each with its own set of competitors and challenges. Google's main areas of interest are search, advertising, apps, and mobile (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2013). To consider this competition in terms of additional debt, let's look at the term value chain analysis. “Value chain analysis” is a systematic method for studying the core competencies and activities of the organization that drive competitive advantage. Value chain analysis allows companies to identify those business areas that create value, i.e. those that do not create value. Knowing these aspects is essential in a competitive environment: to be a source of competitive advantage, the company must perform an activity better than its competitors or carry out an activity that creates value that its competitors cannot perform. Regardless of whether it is limited to an organization's internal activities or includes links with other companies, value chain analysis is used as a strategic management tool that allows understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the systems studied and identify new ways of conducting activities in order to generate added value (Popescu & Dascălu, 2011). Google has been able to deliver products to the world effectively and efficiently while maintaining profitability and value
