Our prosecutor's office is charging Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni with human rights abuses, corruption and war crimes. Yoweri Museveni's actions have had a vast negative effect on Uganda and neighboring nations. Large numbers of Ugandans have already suffered under Museveni's leadership. In the 1980s Museveni's government began to directly influence the population by not being able to fund some of the basic services that are a necessity for the people of Uganda such as roads, railways and power plants. Uganda has economic potential with its thriving agriculture, however, due to political instability, Uganda is the most deprived and least developed country in Africa. Museveni not only damaged Uganda's economy, but also had people killed for excessive opinions on topics such as gay rights and religious freedom. Museveni passed a law making it legal to prosecute and prosecute homosexuals and anyone who fails to report homosexuals (Fry). Furthermore, on February 24, 2014, Museveni created a new law imposing life imprisonment on homosexuals (Pflanz). Under Museveni, human trafficking has continued and the same companies have a reputation for raping, torturing and beating their female employees, as well as selling them into slavery (Chan). When Museveni was running for re-election, Uganda's economy was in chaos. He could not afford to lose the military service companies. Any atrocities committed by these utility companies were ignored as Museveni could not afford to notice them. According to the “Rules and Regulations Governing the Recruitment and Employment of Ugandan Migrant Workers Abroad, No. 62”, the government should pay compensation in case of death and disability. With the amount of abuse in these ... middle of paper ... he began to lead opposition demonstrations against his power” (Kampala). So, if Museveni continues to be in power and doesn't change the way he runs the place, these small demonstrations can easily escalate into further violence and turn into a full-scale riot. Comments: Yoweri Museveni is a corrupt politician who was elected through an illegal party. election campaign and suppresses other rival political parties. It has allowed domestic and foreign companies to operate illegally in Uganda without even the threat of punishment. It oppresses and persecutes homosexual people in Uganda just for being homosexual, uses autocratic rules and ignores political opposition on issues of debate. He is also responsible for the murder and theft of Congo's wealth and resources, and this has given a very negative reputation and image to Yoweri Museveni.
