Their model consisted of traits, attitudes, and skills that they called global competencies. The foundation of this model is Global Business Knowledge which provides awareness about the environment and how to create business value. It serves as the basis for the other phases of being an International Manager. This step is followed by threshold personality traits that include integrity, humility, resilience, and curiosity. They also suggested that the components of an international manager are based on these personality traits for which cognitive complexity and external orientation are identified which serves as the basis for four domains of knowledge namely myself, others, own organization and the organization of others in which a manager needs to have knowledge to be successful. The next level is identified as interpersonal skills which include communication, creation and building trust. Finally, they identified critical systems skills for international managers who work effectively across cultures, building community through change management and ethical decision making. Therefore, this global leadership competency model highlights the characteristics or skills that an international manager should possess to be successful. International Experience as an International Manager: The above theoretical models give a perception of what constitutes an international manager and it would be useful to analyze myself as an international director.
